P.s

The search now has an option of Group Exact and when you click one of the group names it now uses this option and lists only exactly matching group names and not those that simply contain the search string.

Ok, families are now implemented.

In the columns and search result you will see something like this to tell you that that production is part of a family:-

Synthia V2.0
Synthia V2.0

and on the home page, any production that's part of a family will have a orangeish border: -

Phantasie IIIPhantasie III

Then when you view a production there will be links below the screenshot to the other family members

Good. A separate page for latest upload would be great IMO

Ok, this issue will be addressed by the families. The families will associate all the dupes together and when you view one one of the dupes it will list all the others, or at least that's my goal for it.

For now i've restored the download column to not be random, but I hope to have the rest of the families working within a week

P.s. i've been messing around with javascript a lot more recently, and i'm hoping to make the home page a bit more interactive

p.p.s Maybe I can add a new column or a link to a new page with a list of the latest uploaded prods.

I PM that case to Tetra, regarding dupes. Now, we cannot see if a dupes is added since it does not appear anymore in the download column and is by design not displayed in the Latest top 10.

An idea is to have a list, by entry dates somewhere else or through the search engine.

err...
a question about the "prods you have not downloaded" and random :
if the prods are not in the "Latest 10 remakes" because of "Dupe"... with the random mode, latest dupes could not appear ?!?

p.s. :
I noticed that many prods I already downloaded appear

yes thats a good idea tetra.. now the "whoot i dont comment etc on this" effect is bigger
and the remakes that are hidden in the depths are now shown more often ..

I noticed that the home page columns:-

Prods you have not downloaded
Prods you have not commented on
Prods you have not voted on

were a bit useless displaying the most recent by now, so I made them random! wuhoo go random!
I hope that it will encourage more downloads, comments and votes!

Frankly I'd be pretty pissed off if my remakes got replaced by better or more accurate or whatever ones. Even another version wouldn't exactly make me feel good. If someone finds a noteworthy bug they can tell the coders and I'm sure they'll fix it. A remake will never be 100% of the original (upscaling, different music playback etc.) and IMHO it doesn't have to be. Remakes (for me) are here to bring back memories and memories are never 100% either. The 90 percent+ accurate rule is enough I'd say. Most of the remakes are way more accurate than that anyway. Sometimes stuff even runs different in an emulator than on the real hardware and I'm definitely not gonna test everything on my ST, just to make sure. Hehe
Ok, that's just my two cents about this.

@Shockwave: I agree that we can have a closer version of some remakes to reach the perfect cloning :-P

However, I would not simply "replace" with the new one, but more have the 2 different versions available.

Why ? Simply for respect of remakers. Even if there is "bug" or non-windowed mode, the guy spent time to make it and we should never forget that !

Also, what will be the limits to allow replacement of an existing cractro with a newest ?

My view on that subject is:

1) allow mutiple entries for a same cracktro
2) for 2nd entry, a description of added improvements/features

IMO, this will better motivates remakers than replacing their production because another remaker has better experience on coding or use a langugae that has more compatibility with a specific OS. As an example, I don't think Padman, our Atari Guru, would apreciate having his productions replaced because of a "bug" between his code and Windows 7 (or the slow machine of Stormbringer) ...

I would like it if we could "proper" a remake.
If someone else releases a more accurate remake than one that's already released on here then the old remake could be replaced with the new version.

Most of the remakes here are very accurate but there are some that don't have delta timing or windowed mode or version or are a little bit off the mark (some of my first ones come into those categorys) and those ones should be propered.

@HellsAngel: List would be great. In the other side, Remakers should make the ones they want and maybe we could have a way to handle dupes. Again, probability that we have dupes is actually low.

On my side, there is certain Intro that have a certain importance to my eyes and I definitely want/will remake them, even if they are already released... Of course, they will land on my HD :-P or we find a way to have _INTERNAL_ releases :-P

At the end of the day, even if we unluckily work on the same remake, new coded routines will remains ...
